Home Leadership Program 2007 Introduction

The course lasts 2 weeks and consists of the following 6 parts:

Workshop: Green Growth approach, economic instruments for Green Growth
Field Trip: environmental infrastructure, e.g.; Mapo resource recovery center
Case Study: examples of achieving Green Growth at corporate and local government levels, e.g. Yuhan-Kimberly
Country Report presentation: status of participating countries
Group discussion: composed of subjects and presentations;
Experience of Korean culture : Korean Folk Village, Gongju City;
Others: Welcoming Reception, Farewell Party, etc
 

The objective of the programme is to enhance the capacity of government officials from the countries in the region to pursue Green Growth and share their related experiences. In addition, it seeks to cultivate human resources who will carry out the implementation plans produced by the Seoul Initiative Policy Consultation Forum.

Environmental Infrastructure : National Institute of Biological Resources, Integrated Monitoring Center (TMS) of Environmental Management Corp., Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corp., and Mapo resource recovery center (including incinerators), etc.
Case Study : Example of city stream restoration, environmental management and corporate responsibility (Yuhan-Kimberly, Hyundai Steel, Hyundai Oil-Bank).
Theme
  (1) Economic development and environmental protection;
(2) Environmental fiscal reform (environmentally related tax, charges, etc.);
(3) Sustainable infrastructure (water, air, waste, energy, etc.);
(4) Role of stakeholders for pursuing Green Growth
All participants are requested to prepare and submit their country report on the above-mentioned themes via email to EHRD (Email: brainjs@me.go.kr)
by 2 October, 2007
Participants will be requested to present country report at the group discussion session (about 15 minutes).
Participants will be requested to select one of the above-mentioned theme.
All participants divided into groups based on their preferred subjects and presentations submitted. Each group will discuss the subject and make a presentation on the discussion results.
Representatives of each group will present the group discussion results in a plenary session.
